Hello!

My name is Savannah Gygi

Thank you for visiting! I'm a Christian pro-life birth and postpartum doula and placenta encapsulator.

Since 2014, I have been involved in childcare, tutoring, and homeschool co-op daycare. I am working towards becoming a certified nurse midwife. Becoming a doula through The Elite Doula Co. is my first step on this journey.

Currently, I have over a year of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) experience, and I am nationally registered and certified as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-A). I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in nursing before working towards a Master of Science in nursing.

My goals are:

  • bridging the gap between medical and holistic care. I plan on familiarizing and preparing my clients to navigate the medical world while striving to provide them with the best care possible.

  • cultivating a community where mamas and their families can find the support and love they need. I believe children are truly a gift from the Lord. I admire the love, effort, and patience it takes to be a parent and believe it is a full-time job. Doula work is where my admiration for parenting and love for babies converge.

My mission as a doula is to support women from pregnancy to postpartum, informing, encouraging, and empowering them to make life-affirming decisions for themselves and their babies. My services include prenatal visits, birth support, postpartum visits, placenta encapsulation, and pregnancy loss counseling.

While not every pregnancy is expected, each and every one is planned by our Lord. I'm here to meet you in this expected or unexpected season and offer as much help and support as I can.

I service the surrounding Hattiesburg area, including Forrest, Lamar, Marion, Covington, Jones, Perry, Greene, Pearl River, Stone, and George counties.

Savannah's Birth Philosophy

God uniquely designed women to be able to carry, nourish, and birth babies. As your doula, my intentions are to be by your side no matter the situation: caesarian birth, VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarian), unmedicated birth, medicated birth, unplanned or planned epidural, first pregnancy to last pregnancy, unexpected or expected pregnancy. For the greatest and safest birth experience, I will strive for open communication between all parties involved: mother, family, midwife, doctor, doula.

Doula (n.): comes from ancient Greek term meaning a woman who serves or mothering the mother.

Disclaimer

As a doula, I can provide emotional and physical support to and advocacy for the mother before, during, and after labor. I do not provide medical care or consultation. Doulas provide "gloves off" care and support: all medical needs (taking vitals of mother and baby, physical exams, etc.) are handled by your healthcare professional.
